Keflavik is the center of the Reykjanes peninsula, offering it's travelers all that a town has to offer including hotels, guesthouses, restaurants and cultural sights while still being so close to unspoiled, Icelandic nature. Keflavik has a tremendous  location that is unmatched by other towns and cities in Iceland. Being only 5 minutes from the airport it is often selected as the start or the and of ones trip. Once travelers come to Keflavik they set it as their hub when exploring the surroundings, being only 15 minutes driving from the Blue Lagoon,  walking distance to restaurants and around 10 minutes drive to many beautiful natural attractions like Gunnuhver and many others.

City centre

Keflavik is the only town on the Reykjanes peninsula that includes a wide range of accommodations, ranging from guesthouses to four star hotels, restaurants, ranging from fast food fast food diners to excellent restaurants like Café Iðnó and Kaffi Duus. It also has a variety of museums, cultural attractions and activities like Viking World, Duus cultural center, Keflavik art gallery and the giantess in the mountain for the kids.

The Marina and the Cliffs

The marina in downtown Keflavik is a beautiful sight both in summer- and wintertime. The small harbor has a calm feeling to it, it's also the home of the giantess in the mountain. At the marina you'll find a small cliff, which is lit up during the winter time. "Bergid", as Icelanders call it, has become a must-see for travelers visiting the Reykjanes and Keflavik during their trip to Iceland. The cliffs were first lit in September, 2000, after the idea hit Hotel Keflavik's hotel manager. Since then, each year, a large family and a cultural festival has been held in the beginning of September  around the lighting of the cliffs. The festival is called "The night of lights&qu ot; and is held for four straight days, but the cliffs are lit until the following summer.
