The Marina and the Cliffs
The marina in downtown Keflavik is a beautiful sight both in summer- and wintertime. The small harbor has a calm feeling to it, it's also the home of the giantess in the mountain. At the marina you'll find a small cliff, which is lit up during the winter time. "Bergid", as Icelanders call it, has become a must-see for travelers visiting the Reykjanes and Keflavik during their trip to Iceland. The cliffs were first lit in September, 2000, after the idea hit Hotel Keflavik's hotel manager. Since then, each year, a large family and a cultural festival has been held in the beginning of September around the lighting of the cliffs. The festival is called "The night of lights&qu ot; and is held for four straight days, but the cliffs are lit until the following summer.
